The correct organization of occupational safety training is an effective method of preventing industrial injuries

Andrii Andreev, a specialist of the State Labor Department in Sumy region, together with the head of the Department of Electric Power Engineering of Sumy State University, associate professor, candidate of technical sciences Igor Lebedynskyi, held a seminar-meeting for the department's employees on the organization, training and testing of knowledge on occupational health and safety issues. The teachers train specialists in the specialties: "Thermal Power Engineering" and "Energy Management", who service thermomechanical equipment of power plants, heating networks and points, as well as heating boiler houses.

In accordance with Article 18 of the Law of Ukraine "On Labor Protection", employees upon hiring and in the course of work must undergo briefings, training on labor protection issues, providing first aid to victims of accidents and rules of conduct in the event of an accident at the expense of the employer.

They discussed the concept of "special training" and the general requirements for its implementation, which is defined by the Standard Regulation on the Procedure for Conducting Training and Testing Knowledge on Occupational Safety and Health No. 15 dated 26.01.2005. Curricula and programs, according to which training on occupational safety is conducted, which take into account specific types of work at the enterprise, production conditions, and functional duties of employees.

The labor inspector focused on the possible causes of industrial injuries during work at the enterprise, harmful and dangerous factors at workplaces, the need for overtime training, briefings, internships, duplication and admission of employees to work.

Increasing the quality of training and testing knowledge on labor protection issues is an effective method of preventing accidents and industrial injuries at enterprises.
